Keeping Your Cool as Summer Hits

The heat is picking up, and I can tell it’s hitting everyone’s Pitta hard. When the sun gets this intense, your digestion and temper often mirror the spike in temperature. You’re probably feeling a bit more irritable or prone to heartburn lately.

It’s time to shift your routine. Start by cooling your body from the inside out. I love drinking room-temperature water infused with cucumber slices or a few mint leaves throughout the afternoon. Skip the iced drinks, as they actually dampen your digestive fire, which leads to sluggishness.

Instead of heavy, spicy meals, try eating more sweet, juicy fruits like watermelon or pears. They’re naturally hydrating and help soothe that internal heat. If you’re struggling to keep your cool, try rubbing a little coconut oil on the soles of your feet before bed. It sounds simple, but it draws heat away from your head and helps you sleep better.

Don’t forget to check the VedKal calendar if you’re planning your daily tasks; you don't want to be running errands during the peak heat hours when the Choghadiya isn't in your favor. Take care of yourselves this week. It’s a busy time, but you don’t have to burn out just because the weather is rising.
