Staying Grounded Under the July Heat
It’s mid-July and the Sun is settled deep into Cancer. With Jupiter also here, there’s a heavy, watery influence on our digestion that can make us feel sluggish or bloated if we’re not careful.
I’ve noticed a lot of people feeling ungrounded lately. The heat is peaking, and that puts a strain on our Pitta dosha. When your inner fire gets too high, it leads to irritability and acidic digestion.
Don’t reach for iced drinks. It’s the worst thing you can do for your agni, or digestive fire. It just shuts down your system. Instead, try room-temperature water infused with a few slices of fresh cucumber or mint. It’s cooling without the shock to your stomach.
If you're feeling particularly restless, focus on root vegetables this week. Earthy flavors help pull that excess heat down. I’ve been making a simple stew with sweet potatoes and ghee. It’s easy on the gut and helps keep your energy steady while the planets shift.
Keep your meals light before sunset. Your body is working hard to process these transits, and a heavy, late dinner will just sit there and create toxins. Listen to your body—it’s smarter than you think.
