Why are we still obsessed with exaltation?

I’m looking at the current sky and thinking about our obsession with exaltation.

We love to tell clients their Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, making everything perfect. But look at where we are. Jupiter is sitting there at 3 degrees Cancer. It’s powerful, sure, but does it actually solve a messy life on its own?

I don’t think so.

I’ve spent years working with gemstone therapy and specific mantras, and I’ve seen exalted planets create as much havoc as debilitated ones if the individual doesn’t have the discipline to handle that energy. A strong planet is just raw fuel. If your internal engine is broken, that fuel just leads to an explosion rather than a steady climb.

Why do we keep teaching that exaltation is the goal?

I’d rather have a neutral, well-placed planet that plays nice with the rest of the chart than a "superpowered" one that demands constant attention.

When I’m tracking these transits on the Vyom app, I focus more on the house lordship and the actual dasha period than these static dignities. A planet in its own sign or exaltation doesn't mean you can just sit back and wait for a miracle. You still need to do the work, pick the right stone, and chant the right sounds.

Are we just using exaltation as a shorthand for 'good' because it’s easier than explaining complex karmic interplay? I’d love to hear your take.
